Students at Wheatmore High School in Trinity were among the first to
tour Randolph Community College’s new industrial automation mobile
classroom on May 24. The 44-foot-long, goose-neck trailer pulled by a
heavy-duty pickup truck was parked in front of the school’s cafeteria
for a couple of hours on Thursday so the students could tour on their
lunch hour. Several Wheatmore teachers also sent students from their
classes in shifts to tour the unique classroom, believed to be the first
of its kind in North Carolina, according to Tom Jones, Randolph
Community College Electrical/Electronics Technology instructor.

A mobile classroom like this is a great help to students who can’t come to real school. It’s nice that organizations like Randolph Community College are thinking of ways to make learning closer to their students. It would be nice if other colleges would also integrate this idea into their system.
