Randolph Community College Medical Assisting Program Receives Accreditation

The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) has awarded initial accreditation to the Medical Assisting Associate Degree program at Randolph Community College’s Archdale Center.

RCC added the program to its curriculum offerings in fall 2011. The initial accreditation is effective until Sept. 30, 2019, when RCC’s program will go through a reaccreditation process.

“Medical assisting is a fairly new program for us, and we have been pleased with the strong enrollment and the response from the community,” said Dr. Robert Shackleford, RCC president. “This accreditation gives us a stamp of approval that endorses the quality of the program and is a big plus for our students as they enter the workforce.”

The Randolph Community College Foundation has announced the date for its 2015 Dancing with the Randolph Stars, a fundraising event to benefit Randolph Community College students. Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarships for Randolph Community College students. The 2014 event netted over $160,000 for scholarships, according to Ann Hoover, who will be co-chairing the planning committee along with Vickie Gallimore again this year. The pair have led the successful fundraiser since the inaugural event in 2010 and have seen the gross receipts go from around $97,000 the first year to over $200,000 this past spring.
