Owning a handgun carries with it a critical responsibility for the owner to know and follow safety guidelines. According to pediatrics.about.com,
shooting accidents are one of the top ten leading causes of accidental
deaths for all age groups outside of newborns and infants.
To help reduce those accidents, Randolph Community College’s Public
Safety department is offering a Handgun Familiarization class to
Concealed Carry Permit holders or citizens who may be thinking about
obtaining a Concealed Carry Permit.
The first class will be held from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27,
at RCC’s Emergency Services Training Center. It will consist of some
classroom time and some range time. The cost is $35 per student.
Students who do not own their own firearm will still need to provide
ammunition for their range time. For more information or to register,
contact ESTC at 336-633-4165.
