Sixty-three students were welcomed into Beta Theta Rho, Randolph
Community College’s Five-Star Phi Theta Kappa chapter, during the spring
induction ceremony on Saturday, April 6, in the R. Alton Cox Learning
Resources Center auditorium on the Asheboro Campus.
James J. Popp, a 2006 graduate of RCC’s Associate in Arts (College
Transfer) program and chair of the History Department at Southwestern
Randolph High School, was the guest speaker. Popp, who was a Phi Theta
Kappa member when he was a student at RCC, transferred to North Carolina
A&T State University where he completed a bachelor’s degree in
history in 2009 and a master’s degree in teaching in 2011.
