Fifteen students graduated from Randolph Community College’s fifth annual Student Leadership Academy on March 27. The students were chosen for the Academy based on a competitive process that considered leadership experience, leadership potential, and a letter of reference from a faculty member.
Ron Miriello, a Vietnam veteran and retired community college leader, was the keynote speaker at Tuesday’s graduation ceremony held in the R. Alton Cox Learning Resources Center auditorium. Miriello began his community college employment in 1975 at Fayetteville Technical Community College, where he served as a GED counselor, veterans counselor, veterans affairs coordinator, and as director of admissions. He later accepted the job of director of admissions/associate dean of students at Central Carolina Community College. In 2008, he retired from CCCC as vice president for educational and student support services.
