Walter Matthew Hoover, a professional musician and teacher for the past 30 years, will teach a “Beginning Guitar” and a “Guitar 2” course at Randolph Community College, both beginning in June.
In “Beginning Guitar” (#66705), students will learn the basics of guitar technique that make a strong musical foundation. Topics covered include use of a pick or plectrum, note reading, fretting notes, and playing open position chords. Easy examples of famous songs will be used throughout to make learning fun and inspiring. The course will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Mondays, June 18 through August 27.
“Guitar 2” (#66721) is designed for students who have completed Beginning Guitar and are wanting to build upon the skills they have attained, or for those guitarists who have a little experience already. Topics will include rounding out the 15 basic chords, note reading on strings five and six, eighth notes and eighth note strumming, and more of the fundamentals of technique. This class will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, June 20 through August 29.
