Randolph Community College, in
collaboration with Randolph County Public Schools and county fire
departments, will be starting a high school fire academy next month,
according to Paul Goins, director of RCC's Emergency Services Training
Center and BLET program. The program will provide high school students,
age 16 years and older, an introduction to the fire service.
While taking part in this after-school program, students will be
earning credits toward the completion of their North Carolina
Firefighter certification. Classes will cover topics such as fire
behavior, personal protective equipment, and emergency medical care.
