On Monday, Jan. 12, the Petty Family
Foundation donated $6,000 to the Randolph Community College Foundation.
The funds will be used to provide scholarships to local high school
seniors who plan to enroll in Randolph Community College after
graduation. The donation was made in honor of NASCAR legend Richard
Petty’s wife Lynda, who passed away in March of last year.
“Lynda was all about education and what it
could do for kids, so today was sort of a special way to honor that”,
said Richard. “Our mom was very active in public education, and sat on
the school board for sixteen years” added Petty’s daughter Rebecca
Moffitt. “We knew that she would have wanted us to give back to our
county schools.”
