Randolph Community College is planning its second half-day Substance
Abuse Forum in April that is focused on helping the families of those
with substance abuse problems. “Substance Abuse: A Family Issue” will be
held from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, in the Corporate
Training Center of RCC’s new Continuing Education and Industrial Center
on the Asheboro Campus.
Dr. Charles Betts of
Asheboro will be the keynote speaker on the subject “The Science of
Addiction.” Additional speakers and topics will be announced.
Attendees will find out more about the effects of substance abuse on
the family and how it affects the abuser, physically and mentally. The
cost is $10, and Monday, April 8 is the deadline to register.

The Substance Abuse Forum is being sponsored by the following community
partners: Daymark, Family Court, Frank Horton and Associates EAP, the
local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), N.C.
Mentor, RCC, Randolph County Health Department, Randolph County Schools,
Randolph County Senior Adults Association, Sandhills Center, and
Therapeutic Alternatives.
