Basic Welding Courses Scheduled at RCC Archdale and Asheboro; MIG 1 Class at Asheboro

Randolph Community College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division will offer a “MIG 1” welding course on the Asheboro Campus beginning Aug. 15. The class (#65304) will meet from 5-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Aug. 15 – Dec. 12. The cost is $240.55.

This course introduces metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Topics include equipment setup and fillet and groove welds with emphasis on application of GMAW and FCAW electrodes on carbon steel plate. Upon completion, students should be able to perform fillet welds on carbon steel with prescribed electrodes in the flat, horizontal, and overhead positions. This class prepares students to obtain an ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Welding Certificate (additional fee required).

In addition, four “Basic Welding” courses will be offered for fall, two at the Welding Center located at RCC’s Archdale Center at 110 Park Ave., Archdale, and two at the Asheboro Campus, 629 Industrial Park Ave., Asheboro.

Welding Courses Set for March/April at Randolph Community College Asheboro and Archdale

Additional welding courses have been scheduled for the spring semester at Randolph Community College beginning in March and April.

Basic Welding
, scheduled for 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m., on Saturdays, March 18 through April 8, will be held at the Archdale Center. This course is designed to teach basic gas metal arc welding safety, fundamentals and techniques. The cost is $110.55.

RCC will offer a MIG 1 class on the Asheboro Campus from 5-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, April 10 through Aug. 9. (No classes will be held on April 17, May 29, and July 3-7.) This course introduces metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Welding Courses Scheduled for Jan./Feb. at Randolph Community College

Welding courses scheduled for the spring semester at Randolph Community College include Basic Welding, MIG 1, and a new Basic Fabrication course offered by the Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division.

Two Basic Welding courses have been scheduled at the Archdale Center. The first course (#59648), which is designed to teach basic gas metal arc welding safety, fundamentals and techniques, is scheduled for 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Jan. 14 through Feb. 4. The second class (#59649) will also meet from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 18 through March 11. Cost is $110.55.

RCC will offer a MIG 1 class (#58888) on the Asheboro Campus from 5-9 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 9 through May 3. This course introduces metal arc welding and flux core arc welding processes. Basic Welding is a prerequisite, and the total cost is $240.55.
