Application Deadline Jan. 1 for RCC Firefighter Academy Beginning Jan. 17 at ESTC

Randolph Community College’s next Firefighter Academy, for ages 18 and above, will begin Tuesday, Jan. 17, at RCC’s Emergency Services Training Center. Students will train Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Jan. 17 through May.

This program, which prepares students for employment as a firefighter, is 614 hours and covers all topics required by the N.C. Fire Commission for certification. It also covers the requirements for HazMat Operations and N.C. Technical Rescuer. There is a required physical training aspect to this class. When completed, students affiliated with a department are certified as N.C. Firefighters. On a space-available basis, volunteer firefighters can take individual topics for certification.
