Mac Sherrill Named to ACCT Nominating Committee

Mac Sherrill, chair of the Randolph Community College Board of Trustees, was elected a member of the Regional Nominating Committee for the Southern Region of the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) at the Community College Leadership Congress in New Orleans recently.

Sherrill was elected to the five-member committee at the Southern Regional Caucus and Meeting on Oct. 7, 2016. Regional Nominating Committee members serve two-year terms and nominate one or more nominees for regional director from the region to serve on the ACCT Board of Directors. They may also support director-at-large candidates. Regional Nominating Committees are also responsible for nominating one or more nominees to the ACCT Diversity Committee.

The ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern over 1,200 community, technical, and junior colleges in the United States and beyond. Located in Washington, D.C., ACCT is a major voice of community college trustees to the presidential administration, U.S. Congress, the Departments of Education and Labor and more.

Sherrill has been a member of RCC’s Board of Trustees since 1997.
