Randolph Community College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division is introducing a new course to complement RCC’s focus on agriculture this year under the North Carolina Central Region Pathways to Prosperity Strategic Plan. According to the plan, Randolph County is the No. 1 producer of beef cattle in North Carolina, the No. 1 producer of goats/sheep, No. 2 in dairy production, and No. 6 in broiler production, hay production and egg production.
“Agricultural Mechanics I” includes many subjects commonly found in mechanical systems at home or on the farm. They include small engine theory and repair, basic household electrical wiring, and basic arc welding for repair. Students will learn concepts for every day fixes around the home or farm. Upon completion of the small engines portion of the class, students will be able to sit for the Briggs and Stratton Basic Certification.
The class (#67153) will meet from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and
Thursdays, Sept. 4 through Dec. 18 in the Building Trades Center, room
102, on the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $215.55. Students will be
provided with a supply list upon registration.
