Randolph Community College is offering a “Painting the Landscape in Oils and Acrylics – Plein Air” course beginning on July 10. Plein Air is a French term meaning outside, or in this case, painting outside. Students will be introduced to oil and acrylic painting in the great outdoors.
Beginning and intermediate students will get the opportunity to try out painting methods while learning design, drawing, and color theory. Classes will be held at Lake Lucas, 3158 Old Lexington Road in Asheboro. Students will need to furnish their own supplies.
The class (#66797) will meet from 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 10 through Aug. 9. On rainy days, the class will meet in the Building Trades Center, Room 102, on the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $70.55.
