Randolph Community College Honors Outstanding Faculty and Staff Member, Employee Years of Service at Spring Convocation

Dr. Nancy McCurry and Lorie McCroskey
Randolph Community College honored Dr. Nancy Y. McCurry as its 2014 Excellence in Teaching award winner and Lorie L. McCroskey as the 2014 Staff Person of the Year during its Spring Convocation held Jan. 10 in the R. Alton Cox Learning Resources Center auditorium. RCC Board of Trustees Chair Mac Sherrill and RCC President Robert S. Shackleford both welcomed the audience of over 200 faculty and staff members to the official kick-off to the spring semester. “This is an overachieving college,” said Shackleford, who explained he receives a lot of questions about how RCC accomplishes what it does with the challenges it faces. “We live in an economically depressed area, we don’t have all the jobs we need in the county, we’ve had budget restraints, we have a lot of obstacles,” he said. “But we absolutely ignore them and step over them to achieve our goals. I tell them, ‘You just have to know our people.’”
