Randolph Community College Graduate Meets With Vice President & Mrs. Biden
Brenda Lopez Benitez of Asheboro (right center), a 2009 graduate and former Student Ambassador of Randolph Community College, was among a contingent of community college students and personnel who met with Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill prior to their visit at Davidson County Community College on Feb. 24. The group talked to the Bidens about the impact of North Carolina’s community colleges on our state. Lopez is currently a student at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. She was named the Dallas Herring Achievement Award recipient by the North Carolina Community College System in April 2011. The visit to DCCC was part of a tour highlighting President Barack Obama’s pitch for $8 billion in funding for community college partnerships with industry in his recently-proposed budgethat, you have to go to school." The 20,000-square-foot Richard Petty Education Center will house Randolph Community College's Automotive Systems Technology and Autobody Repair programs, doubling the space that each program has in its current location.
