Randolph Community College Welcomes Fred Chappell on Feb. 24

Randolph Community College's Cultural Arts Series continues this month with "An Evening with Fred Chappell," scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m. in the R. Alton Cox Learning Resources Center on the Asheboro Campus. Chappell will read and discuss selections from his work.


Fred Chappell taught creative writing at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for 40 years and directed the MFA program in creative writing. He has published 8 novels, 17 volumes of poetry, 2 books of essays, 2 collections of short stories, and a multi-genre reader. Chappell received the Yale Bollingen Poetry award and the N.C. Thomas Wolfe award. He was N.C. Poet Laureate from 1997-2002.
