Jorge Lagueruela, founder and
president of Trinity Furniture and a member of the Randolph Community College
Board of Trustees, was honored as High Point University’s 2014 Alumnus of the
Year during Alumni Weekend activities Oct. 10-12.
According to a statement from HPU, Lagueruela is “a member of HPU’s class of 1979. He has received many awards and accolades including four-time recipient of The Business Journal Fast 50, the U.S. Department of Commerce Exporter of the Year, two-time recipient of The Business Journal Top Ranked Hispanic Business of the Year, and the HPU Award for Distinguished Service to his Profession. An active board member with the Archdale-Trinity YMCA, Lagueruela is also very active with Hopewell United Methodist Church, serving on the Board of Trustees, chairman of several committees, and a member of the choir.”
Lagueruela was appointed to a four-year term on RCC’s Board of Trustees in November 2013 by N.C. Gov. Pat McCrory. He serves on the Board’s Budget & Finance/Building & Grounds Committee.
